David Coonrod serves as Financial Advisor & Managing Partner of Coonrod Aten Financial Group. He brings more than 30 years of financial services experience and a background in public accounting to his work with individuals, families and business owners.
After earning his accounting degree from Millikin University, David began his career in public accounting. He saw an opportunity to help clients connect financial planning and wealth management with their accounting and tax needs. That vision led him to establish Coonrod Financial Group in 1997. In 2026, David and Mick Aten brought their established practices together to form Coonrod Aten Financial Group, alongside Financial Advisor Dan Eichinger and the Springfield team.
David’s approach considers how investment decisions, retirement plans and taxes affect one another. He takes time to understand each client’s circumstances and values the personal relationships behind the work. His familiar observation, “Our clients are like family,” reflects the care and attention he wants clients to experience. David also contributes to the tax practice at Coonrod & Associates P.C., where tax and accounting services are provided through separate engagements.
David is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is actively involved in his church and community, including service with local organizations and boards.
David and his wife, Gina, a music teacher in the Chatham School District, have two children. Outside the office, you might find him playing with one of his bands, Deja Voodoo or The Collective, and pretending to be a rock star.
